One of the more sought-after Indian Premier League records is the fastest fifty. Given the ever-changing nature of scoring in the tournament, the half-century record has passed around quite a few times.

Batsmens who Score Fastest Fifty in IPL History
1. KL Rahul – (14 balls), PUNJAB V DELHI, IPL 2018
The fastest 50 in IPL history was made by KL Rahul in a mere 14 deliveries, against Delhi. The earlier record had stood for nearly four years before KL’s carnage against Trent Boult, Mohammad Shami, and Amit Mishra put it to bed.
2. Sunil Narine – (15 balls), KOLKATA V BANGALORE, IPL 2017
With a target of 159 against Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, both Narine and Chris Lynn took the game away. Narine got to his 50 in 15 deliveries. The two put on 105 runs in a mere six overs.
3. Yusuf Pathan – (15 balls), KOLKATA V HYDERABAD, IPL 2014
During Kolkata’s final league game in 2014, they needed to chase down 161 in 15.2 overs against Hyderabad to make the playoffs. Pathan came out to bat when the team was at 55/2. He was dropped twice early in his innings. What followed was a 22-ball-72. A half-century from 15 balls, three years before Narine equaled his record.
4. Suresh Raina – (16 balls), CHENNAI V PUNJAB, IPL 2014
Raina was on the way to chasing down 227 against Punjab, and perhaps even the faster IPL hundred. Instead, he was run out in the 7th over. His 50 came in just 16 balls, and then by the time he was out, he had scored 87 from 25 balls.
5. Chris Gayle – (17 balls), BANGALORE V PUNE, IPL 2013
In a rain-hit game, Gayle constructed the only century on this list. His 100 came off 30 balls, a total of 175 runs from 66 balls. Of the many T20 records owned by the Jamaican cricketer, this one is right up there.
6. Hardik Pandya – (17 balls), MUMBAI V KOLKATA, IPL 2019
Hardik Pandya tried to mount a comeback against a Kolkata team desperate to break a 6 game-losing streak. His 34-ball-91 came in a losing cause but was the quickest 50 of IPL 2019, in just 17 balls.
7. Adam Gilchrist – (17 balls), DECCAN CHARGERS V DELHI, IPL 2009 (1ST SEMI-FINAL)
In what was a Man of the Match performance from the Australian, Gilchrist’s knock of 85 runs from 35 balls ensured that his team chased down Delhi’s target comfortably. The 50 came from 17 balls. It was the fastest in the then 2-year history of the IPL.
8. Chris Morris – (17 balls), DELHI V GUJARAT, IPL 2016
Delhi all-rounder Morris walked in with his team 4 wickets down for 57 runs on the board, chasing 173. His mammoth 82 from 32 included 7 sixes from his first 17 deliveries. Despite staying till the end, Morris’s effort saw Delhi fall short by a single run against Gujarat.
9. Nicholas Pooran – (17 balls), PUNJAB V HYDERABAD, IPL 2020
Pooran’s 77 from 36 came in a losing cause against Hyderabad. The next-best highest score on his team was 11. His 50 came from a mere 17 deliveries in what is the latest entry in this list.
10. Ishan Kishan – (19 balls), MUMBAI V KOLKATA, IPL 2018
Kishan’s 21-ball-62 ensured a mammoth total for Mumbai against Kolkata. The 50 came in just 17 deliveries.
